Welcome to PoliticalProgressives.com – your source for daily political updates from a progressive’s viewpoint. This political blog will cover any major happenings in our nation’s capitol, as well as any state or local events that have significant political ramifications. Our goal is to do this through the eyes of a progressive – one who supports progressivism, or the progressive movement. What does this all mean? In the not-too distant future, we’ll take an in-depth look at what progressivism and politics, and what it means to be progressive-minded. In the meantime, we’ll just say that PoliticalProgressives.com advocates change & reform in government and through government action.

We will be following current events and providing our analysis on the situation. It’s important to note that this page is not a straight news site – we’re taking the news and giving our opinion on it. We’ll do our best to link back to articles we refer to so you can locate the primary source.  We’ll also do our best to make you think and make you laugh, but most importantly, we want to make you interested and involved in politics.

Progressivism is sometimes associated with being more liberal or democratic. However, PoliticalProgressives.com will be neither. We won’t advocate a political party or ideal besides progressivism, and the majority of the content is written by a self-described centrist/moderate/independent. We welcome the viewpoints of all peoples and parties (even those contrary to our own), as we feel that thoughtful discussion and debate is a key cornerstone of democracy and the only way to create meaningful change.

Some of the articles we have on tap for you include a deeper look into progressivism and what it means to be politically progressive, a history of the progressive movement, an analysis of President Obama’s decision to stop enforcing the Defense of Marriage Act, and we’re also putting together a series of posts entitled “Madness in Madison”, taking a very in-depth look at the political uprisings in Madison, Wisconsin and in other Midwestern states over budget bills, collective bargaining and labor issues.

Finally, as this site is still in its infancy, we ask that you be patient with us as PoliticalProgressives.com continues to grow. We’re currently working on a logo/header design, and we’re going to keep updating the website and the Facebook page constantly over the next few weeks. Our Twitter Page (PoliProgs) is still under development as well. Essentially, we wanted to get the blog going right away, and we’ll do our best to get these other projects running as fast as we can.

So, check out the site, and please share it with any friends, family, or avid political watchdogs you know. The only way the site will continue to grow is by positive word of mouth from readers like you. Any linkbacks, tweets, or likes would be much appreciated. Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the site! Stay Progressive!

I agree with you but you should talk about the future of this as I think you didn’t explain fully.

I have always avoided things political since my college days demonstrating against our never ending wars for financial gain & control. Other than Obama, I had assumed the position that every politician gets corrupted by the system, & other than voting, I avoided all things political. I felt very ‘jaded.’
That stopped with the 2016 election. No need to say more to explain that.
Now I’m the chairperson for my voting precinct & took on other responsibilities.
Last week, at a healthcare event, a gentleman stopped by the sign in desk I was manning & gave me his card as a Progressive Democrat, so I had to look this up.
    I’ll be back. Mindy
